End Date: 10/20/2015End Time: 8:15 PM

Event Description:
This event — free and open to the public — is the English department's third annual 'History of Thought in Western Civilization' lecture, featuring author David French. The lecture will be followed by a panel discussion featuring Trevecca’s own Tim Gaines, Stephanie Cawthorne, and Michael Karounos, as well as French himself.

David French is a staff writer at National Review, an attorney focusing on constitutional law, and a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He is a graduate of Harvard Law School, the past president of the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE), and a former lecturer at Cornell Law School. He has served as a senior counsel for the American Center for Law and Justice and the Alliance Defending Freedom. He is a major in the United States Army Reserve (IRR) and a recipient of the Bronze Star. Most importantly, he is an evangelical Christian who writes frequently and compellingly about his faith, the culture, and the law.
David French’s address will consider the appropriate Christian response to cultural pressures.
